A Balanced Feed for Growing Horses. Mare and Foal feed provides the correct amounts of energy, protein, and other nutrients to support pregnancy and growth. Young horses obtain over 90% of their height in their first year; so proper nutrition is critical during this period.

*weanlings from 2-4 months of age should have feed introduced gradually. Begin at 2 months of age feeding 1/2 lb of Mare and Foal per day. Increase supplemental feeding by 1 lb for each month of age until weaned, then refer to above table. If growth is to rapid reduce the amount of feed and seek veterinary advice.
Amount of feed will vary depending on desired growth rate, level of activity, age, season, and type of forage. Feed high-quality forage at a rate of at least 1% of body weight.
